Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov and Director of Garabakh Equestrian Complex Maarif Huseynov informed the participants about the work done in the field of horse breeding development and the conditions created in the complex.

Garabagh, one of the charming corners of our country, is famous for its beautiful nature, amazing music, ancient monuments, refined carpets and rare breeds. Garabagh horses, the national wealth of Azerbaijan, have been formed in this region thanks to the centuries-old nationwide selection, one of the oldest cultures in the world. Garabagh’s horses were an indispensable role in the perfection of the breed of horses and the spreading of their fame. Therefore, the XVIII-XIX centuries are the golden period of Karabakh hunting. In the twentieth century, the most important event in the history of Garabagh horse breed is the creation of Agdam horse breeding plant. This plant was officially established in the territory of the Khaldan poultry farm, based on the decisions of the USSR Council of Ministers on October 8, 1948 and Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan SSR dated 27 May 1949. In September 1949, the plant was moved to Goytepe, Aghdam Region, and to khan plants in one of the horses’ habitats. After the occupation of the Aghdam region by Armenian aggressors in 1993, the national wealth of Azerbaijan, Karabakh horses, one of the foundations of the local gene, is experiencing a displacement. Karabakh equestrian complex has been operating since 1994 in the territory of Kharkov region of Agjabadi region. Despite all the difficulties, it was possible to keep Karabakh horses up to date. In recent years, the state has been working hard to restore the glory of Azerbaijan’s horse, to ensure the development of horse breeding in our country. In 2007 the Law on Equestrian was adopted. The relevant decree was signed by President Ilham Aliyev in connection with the application of this law, The program for the development of horse breeding has been approved. Presidential Decree on “Additional Support to the Development of Garabagh Horse Breeding in Azerbaijan” dated 19 November 2014 and the Decree of August 21, 2015 “On Measures to Improve the Logistical Supply of Livestock” in the protection of the Garabagh horse gene, the reputation of its historical reputation It has a great importance. On February 22, 2017, the President signed another Decree on this subject. According to the Order, protection and development of Breeding Horse Breed, 2 million manats were allocated from the reserve fund of the President to the Ministry of Agriculture for the completion of measures to create conditions for the scientific breeding work in this field and for the construction of the equestrian complex of “Garabagh Equestrian Farm” LLC under the Livestock Scientific Research Institute. The Karabakh Equestrian Complex is already ready for use.

It was reported that Garabakh Equestrian Complex was built on 35.5 hectares. The surrounding area is full of greenery, trees and ornamental branches are planted. The complex includes a guarded building, a disinfection pool, an administrative building, a birth department, stables, stables for mines and young horses, closed cobblestone, picnic area, attic, inspection room, quarantine building, farm storage, open manege, running strip, training facility, fertilizer storage and auxiliary devices. The highest condition has been created for the employees’ activity in the administrative building of the equestrian complex.

President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva got acquainted with the conditions created in the closed maneuvers.

An exhibition about the history of Garabagh horses was also organized here.

It was noted that, when considering the history, it is possible to see representatives of the Karabakh khan Panah Khan, Ibrahim Khan, Mehdigulu Khan, Jafargulu Khan, Khurshidbanu Natavan and other dynasties of the Khan tribe at the level of classical plant breeding in the special factories and stables. The main advantages of Karabakh horses, which are typical mountain horse, are tolerance and loyalty to the owner. Garabagh horses, which are mostly golden-brown and dark-colored, middle-aged and warm, have been represented in many international exhibitions and have achieved successful results. Thus, at the exhibition held in France in 1867, the Karabakh horse, nicknamed “Khan” was awarded with awards, bronze medal “Monkey” at the All-Russian exhibition in 1869, bronze medals “Tokhga” Khan’s daughter Natavan’s “Alymetmaz” horse has been awarded the certificate. Karabakh horses were taken to Russia, as well as to some European countries, influencing the breeding of breeds of horses, including the Kabardine and Don Horses.

President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva watched Azerbaijan’s ancient national “Sur-hat” game in a closed cage.

It was noted that “Drive-hat” game is held with participation of two teams, each with 4-8 athletes. This game takes about 20 minutes.

The head of state and his wife also got acquainted with the conditions created in the stables of the complex.

It was reported that there are equipment and tools to examine horses’ internal organs, diagnosis of the throat, diagnosis of fractures and injuries, before and after the quarantine, sterilization of used laboratory equipment, as well as selective breeding work. At present, 200 horses are stored in the complex. Five of them are sturdient, 50 are madman, and 145 are young horses and nuts. The complex employs 28 specialists.

It was noted that in 1946, the special commission chose 60 Karabakh warriors, including 59 heads of medics and 1 headgear, who had characteristic features of the genus in Agdam, Shusha, Khojavand, Barda, Yevlakh, Tovuz, where the Karabakh horses were widely spread. In the autumn of 1947, these horses were again examined by the specialists of the Soviet Union and the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, and 27 of them were identified as the typical Karabakh horse, and in 1949 an equestrian factory was established in Eyvazkhanbeyli village of Agdam region. The general development of agriculture in the country in the 1960-1970s, strengthening the material-technical base of the Agdam horse breeding plant, increasing the interest in racetracks created favorable conditions for the development of the Karabakh horse. After the plant was created, the formation of families and branches, active participation of Garabagh horses in several allied exhibitions and competitions coincides with those years. The gift of Garabagh horse “Time” to the Queen of England II Yelizaveta by the Soviet government in 1956 is a sign of popularity of these horses. The sale of Garabagh horses to many foreign countries, including Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, France and other countries, through the Moscow auction in 1980, played an important role in spreading sex. Garabagh horses, one of the world’s most valuable breeds, have a good exterior and good balustrade. Body dimensions, color, character, endurance, behavior with the owner, accompaniment are the main advantages of Garabagh horses. France and other countries have played an important role in spreading sex. Garabagh horses, one of the world’s most valuable breeds, have a good exterior and good balustrade. Body dimensions, color, character, endurance, behavior with the owner, accompaniment are the main advantages of Garabagh horses. France and other countries have played an important role in spreading sex. Garabagh horses, one of the world’s most valuable breeds, have a good exterior and good balustrade. Body dimensions, color, character, endurance, behavior with the owner, accompaniment are the main advantages of Garabagh horses.

With the attention and care of President Ilham Aliyev, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, achievements in the field of sports are increasing year by year. Equestrian and equestrian sports are also at the center of attention. In short, this kind of sport in our country is under development.

At the 8th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in December 2013, the Chovkan game on Karabakh horse was included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Then a documentary about the Karabakh horses “Sarilar – under the trail of Garabagh horse” was shot. French writer Jean-Louis Kuro, who specializes in horse-breeding and history, published a book titled “Garabagh Horses”. Great horses of Karabakh horses have attracted great interest in the horse show in honor of the 90th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II in the Vindzor castle near London. In short, the conditions created in the complex give us the reason that Karabakh’s horses, the national property of Azerbaijan, now live in the period of their former reputation. As a result of carried out measures, historical reputation of Garabagh horses is returned to it. As a result, our horses will again be successfully represented at international competitions and exhibitions and become a source of pride for our people.
